Question
Can you please find me source in halacha where it says to drink dairy on Hanukah and wine
Answer
Shalom, The Rema (Laws of Chanukah, Orach Chaim 670:2) writes: "Some say that one should eat cheese on Chanukah because the miracle came about through the milk (or dairy) with which Judith fed the enemy." The Mishnah Berurah (670:10) explains the background of this custom: "Judith was the daughter of Yochanan the High Priest. At that time there was a decree that every betrothed woman had to be brought first to the local governor. She fed the leader of the enemy cheese in order to make him thirsty and intoxicated, and then she cut off his head, causing the enemy forces to flee." Regarding wine, there is no obligation or established custom to drink wine on Chanukah. It is mentioned in the Mishnah Berurah (529:20) that if a person practices self-denial throughout the year as an act of repentance by refraining from eating meat and drinking wine, he must nevertheless eat and drink on Shabbat, Festivals, Chanukah, and Purim. However, this does not mean that there is an obligation to drink wine on Chanukah. Rather, the Mishneh Halachot (Vol. 13, Responsum 77) explains that the Mishnah Berurah's intent is simply that one may not fast on Chanukah. Therefore, if someone abstains from meat throughout the year as a form of self-affliction, he should eat meat on Chanukah so that he does not appear to be fasting. The point is not that there is a specific obligation to eat meat or drink wine, but that fasting on Chanukah is prohibited, even though there is no formal obligation to hold a festive meal.
