Is a man allowed to wear nail polish? My fingernails are often chipped and look messy so Id like to wear nail polish to keep them looking tidy.

ב"ה Shalom The question at hand is if nail polish for men is a womanly thing and then it would come under the category of "Lo Yilbash", which literally means that a man should not wear a woman's clothing. However, in the broad sense, the Chafetz Chaim in his book "Tiferet Adam" (Chapter 6 ) includes the act of a man beautifying himself under the prohibition of "lo yilbash". Then on the other hand, following the Shulchan Aruch (Yoreh De'ah 182:1 ) and the Rema in Yoreh De'ah 156:2 state that when an act of grooming is not limited to women only it would not be forbidden for men to do so. Seeing that there are in the market clear nail polishes which are men-specific focused on clean looks and nail strengthening, there seems to be room for leniency when the purpose is indeed for that and not for beautifying one's nails. I didn't want to rule on something which I have not seen specifically discussed by Rabbinic authorities , I consulted an important Rabbinic authority who said that when the purpose is for orderliness and cleanliness it is permitted for a man to do so.
