Question
Hello Rabbi, thank you for the previous answer, but I still don’t understand, if I’m not mistaken doesn’t the Gemara say that one who believes that HaShem didn’t create Choshech is a Kofer? Is this one of the points that Rambam says about in the intro to Moreh Nevuchim that some opinions he will portray in the book aren’t his opinions, but rather the opinions of those the book is written for? Or something along those lines. Also, before creation there wasn’t anything, light OR darkness. Darkness had to be created, as it is still a physical thing in a sense. And in the Pasuk Yotzer Or UVoreh Choshech, isn’t it clear? HaShem made Choshech through בריאה, which is a “more primitive level of creation” so to speak then יצרה, which is how light was made. And this makes more sense in the Maaseh Bereishis, first HaShem made Darkness, then he made light, but maybe this isn’t a good point, as Maaseh Bereishis is very esoteric, even the Ramban wouldn’t comment on it, and I can’t bring a point from a passage that is meant to be interpreted. I think the second half of this question I went on a tangent, which I apologize for, but please answer the first part of my question. Thank you!
Answer
As I wrote, the wording is based upon how man senses things. It's hard to know what the Rambam is writing just for others.
