אמר רחבה א"ר יהודה, עצי ירושלים של קנמון היו, ובשעה שהיו מסיקין מהן ריחן נודף בכל ארץ ישראל, ומשחרבה ירושלים נגנזו ולא נשתייר אלא כשֹעורה, ומשתכח בגזאי דצמצמאי מלכתא.

2. הראי"ה קוק, עין איה שבת ו, מא על מסכת שבת דף סג ע"א
א. כשנמצאת נקודה של אורה במקום אחד מן העולם, פועלת היא במסתרים פעולה כללית על כל העולם כולו. חק האורגניות, היחש החי של השפעה ושל קבלה, הולך וחורז ומקיף את כל המצוי, את החומריות ואת הרוחניות, את הפעולות, המנהגים, ההרגשות ואת המחשבות.
ב. אמנם כשהאורה היא גלויה, כשפעולת צדק ויושר, היוצאת ממקור מחשבה והרגשה טבועה אצילית המפעמת בחזקה במקום אחד, מתגלה היא בחיים ובפועל, אז התכונה האלהית הפנימית המחיה אותה הולכת היא ומתגלה, כובשת מקום בחיים ומכשרת יותר נפשות ולבבות, עד כדי להכניס מקור ישועה בתוכיותה של הנשמה הקיבוצית הכללית, עד שמכחה מתהפכות לטובה כל נקודות חיים הפרטיות והולכות וצומחות לטובה.
ג. אבל כשהאור נעלם, כשהחיים האלהיים אינם מתגלים במרכז של מדינה וממלכה, אז ההרגשה הפנימית העדינה הולכת ומתעלמת, והיא מצמצמת את כחה ומעל[מ]ת את אורה. בחיי השכל המעשי לא תתגלה עוד כ"א בצמצום גדול מאד. הליכות עולם בשכל מתרחב לא תסלול. רוח פנימי בחשאי בחדרי חדרים של הנשמה האנושי[ת] הולך לטובה, אור החיים עצמם, שאיפת הגדלת כחותיהם, בגניזה פנימית, בשיעור מצומצם, בתור שאיפה הרגשית בשיעור קטן ודל, כח חיים של געגועים בלתי שכליים, הדומים לגעגועים בהמיים, שהשעורים הוא מקור חייהם, בשיעור מועט כזה נמצא בעולם גרעין של צדקה וקורטוב של חיים שואפים בפנימיותם להיות החום שלהם מיוסד על בסיס הטוב הנשגב, המאור האלהי. אבל לא יתגלה חוצה, לא בהליכות השכל המתרחב ולא בנאות המעשה המתפשט, כ"א בגניזת הרגש העדין שממקור נשמת אלהים, שהניחה שורש בנשמה האנושית היצורה בצלם אלהים.
ד. מולכת היא ההרגשה הזאת בחדרי לב, כבודה בת מלך פנימה (עפ"י תהילים מה, יד) היא, סגורה במכונה עד אשר יקרא דרור לשבי ירושלים וציון במשפט תפדה (ישע' א, כז). ומשחרבה ירושלים נגנזו ולא נשתייר אלא כשעורה, ומשתכח בגזאי דצמצמאי מלכתא, (ו)[ב]יסוד החיים האלהיים שאינם פוסקים, והם מחממים גם את כל הכחות היותר משתפלים, כדי להביא הכל לתעודת החיים הגבוהה, ההולכת ואור, צמצום האורה האלהית המתרוממת מעל כל, כדי להעמיד את הצביונים הפרטיים מרובי הגוונים של החיים, שם האוצר גנוז של חיי עולמים, ושם חיי המלוכה המתקבלת באורח התמלאות חיל של נפש עיפה, אחרי אשר תשגב עז, אחרי אשר עולם מלא יוסד בכל הליכותיו, ועליו יקרא שם מלא, אחרי הצמאון הבא מחזקת החיים והרגשותיהם המתפרצות, חמדת עולמים להשגב באור חיים אלהיים מרוממים מכל, יבא נחל העדנים המתרחב, "והיה ד' למלך על כל הארץ, ביום ההוא יהי' ד' אחד ושמו אחד" (זכר' יד, ט).

3. אורות הקודש ב, עמ' שלט / השפעת האדם בעולם - י
וכשאנו אומרים, שהאדם בהתעלותו, כשרואים ששם ד' נקרא עליו, יראים ממנו, שבעלי חיים וכחות הטבע מוכנים לעבדו, עם אבני השדה בריתך וחית השדה השלמה לך, כשבני אדם פראים חזקי מצח נכנעים מפני הוד אצילות שבנשמה מלאה חכמת אלהים, וכבוד מוסר שדי ויראת שמים, הכל מוליך אותנו למקום אחד, שלא יש נשמה בודדת, גרגרית, גדועה, בהויה כולה, אלא הכל מחובר משורג וארוג. וכשהגודל מתבלט, הניצוצות הקטנים מתלבים, מרגישים הרגשה טמירית מעצמיותם, שיש כאן נשגב ונערץ. אם לא היו בקרבם קוים יחושיים להנשגב והנערץ, לא היו מרגישים כלום.

4. אורות הקודש ב, עמ' תנו
התגלות הטוב בהשקפת האחדות - ד
א. שתי השקפות עולם הן, ההשקפה המאחדת, וההשקפה המפרדת.
ב. ההשקפה המאחדת רואה את כל החזון של נמצאים מפורדים זה מזה רק בתור טעות החוש, ומיעוט ההארה, אבל אמתת המציאות היא רק אחדות גדולה, והנמצאים הרבים והשונים הם רק גילויים מיוחדים, אברים שונים, צבעים וגוונים שונים של אותה החטיבה האחדותית. ובהשקפת האחדות מביטים על הכל, ואז ממילא מתמצא חשבון הטוב, כי הכל ביחד בודאי הוא טוב בתכלית הטוב, והוא עוד הרבה יותר טוב על ידי התגלות החלקים הרעים שלו, מאילו היה חסר אותם האברים או אותם דרכי הגילוי. וכל מה שאותה ההכרה האחדותית מתעמקת ומתעצמת, ככה מתגלה היא אמתתה בכל החידור התהומי שלה, ובממשלתה על החיים הולכות כל ההרגשות על פי צביונה, ונמצא שהכל מורגש ברגש של טוב, וטוב על טוב מתגבר, וחדוה על חדוה מתעלה, וחיים על חיים מתאדרים. וכל מה שההשקפה האחדותית מכה היא יותר את שרשיה בעומק, היא מביאה גם כן את הטוב המעשי בעולם, את החיים ואת השלום.
ג. ולעומתה של השקפה עליונה זו נמצאת ההשקפה המפרדת, הרואה את המציאות המופרדה בתור חזון אמתי, והזרות של כל מצוי אל משנהו היא תופסת לאמתת ההכרה. החושים וכל ההשגות השטחיות עוזרים על ידיה, והחיים הולכים על פיה ומתגשמים, וכל מה שתוצאותיה מתגברות הולכת היא האפלה והרשעה ומתגברת.
ד. אין קץ לעומק המלחמה שבין אלו ההשקפות, החיצונה והפנימית, כל הארחות של העלילות שבעולם הולכות הן אל מקום אחד להוציא אל הפועל את השליטה של ההשקפה האחדותית בכל העולמים, ולשעבד את השקפת הפירוד אליה.
ה. אמונת האחדות האלהית היא הנשמה, הנושאת בקרבה את כל אוצר החיים, את כל הרכוש הפנימי, שאושר העולמים אצור בו.
