Question
Dear Rabbi,
Where can I find instructions on how to tie tzitzit according to the Ashkenazi
custom?
Many thanks
Greg Aronstam

Answer
Shalom,
The laws of tying tzitzit can be found in the english translation of the Kitzur Shulchan Aruch - The Concise Code of Jewish Law, by Rabbi Ganzfried zt"l. Chapter 9 deals with tzitzit, and paragraphs 3-6 explain how to tie them onto a four corned garment. There is an on-line translation that can be found at http://www.yonanewman.org/kizzur/kizzur9.html
I see you live in South Africa - if you live in a city with a Synagogue, may I suggest that you call on your local Rabbi, or if there is a Yesheva to visit there, and ask if someone can sit with you and show you how to tie the tzitzit. As good as any book is - nothing can beat being shown in person the art of tzitzit tying!
May you be blessed with the blessings of the Torah -
