Question
I work for a large corporation which has matching contribution policy. It donates equal amount of money which I donate to eligible institutions.
1. If I buy aliya for let’s say $1000 donation, can I donate 500 and company’s contribution would cover the other 500?
2. Can I use matching contribution to cover my son’s yeshiva education? I’ve heard of some people who do it and I am not sure if it’s ’kosher’.
Answer
1. If you pledge money, that pledge must be fulfilled with your money, and not matching from the corporation.
2. It depends on the company's policy. Some companies probably would approve of such a donation, but it cannot be assumed.
