Question
Is it a mitzvah or an obligation to take available vaccines for oneself and ones children so as to prevent potential disease?
Answer
Any medication or vaccine that is a standard practice and is agreed by all authorities to be effective and not dangerous to prevent diseases – should be taken and given to kids. (Deuteronomy 4, 15; Tractate Brachot 32b)
