Chanukkiah Versus Menorah
Question
What is the difference between a Chanukkiah and a Menorah besides the obvious number of stems?
Answer
The term Chanukiah refers to the eight branch candelabra for lighting Chanukah candles (there is usually a ninth stem for an extra candle) while the Menora is the name of the seven stemmed candelabra in the temple. The two names are often interchanged or confused.
