בשיא השמחה של חנוכת המשכן מתים נדב ואביהו בני אהרון והשמחה מושבתת. כולם מנסים להבין מה קורה, ולמה זה קורה? מקום כל כך קדוש. ארוע שיא כל כך קדוש. מה עשינו לא בסדר? "וידום אהרון". הוא מבין שעכשיו לא הזמן להבין, רק לקבל. "וכל בני ישראל יבכו את השריפה אשר ברך שרף ה'". עכשיו כולם לוקחים אחריות, ולא מטילים אותה על אחרים. עכשיו אנחנו בוכים בשביל כל מי שאיבד את בני משפחתו.
בתחילת הערב רצינו לשתף את היהודים בצרפת בשמחה הגדולה שיש לנו, ועשינו שידור מיוחד מתורגם לצרפתית לקהילות יהודיות בצרפת. "אנחנו אחים" אמרנו להם. תרגישו את האחוה ואת השמחה שיש פה. תרגישו את הקדושה הגדולה שיש בישראל, תראו את מאות האלפים שרוקדים ביחד, הם רוקדים גם ביחד אתכם.
בבוקר התקשר אלי ראש הקהילה היהודית בצרפת יואל מרגי לנחם ואמר לי אנחנו בוכים אתכם. אנחנו כואבים ביחד אתכם כמו כל היהודים בעולם. אנחנו אחים הוא אמר לי.
אני רוצה להביע הערכה גדולה לכוחות הבטחון, היינו בהר מירון כשהאסון קרה. בתוך דקות ספורות זרמו עשרות אמבולנסים, שוטרים פינו את הצירים. חיילים רצו עם אלונקות. מסוקים הגיעו לפנות את הפצועים הקשים, צירי חרום שהוכנו מבעוד מועד נפתחו.
צריך לומר לכל האנשים הללו תודה. הם מתארגנים תמיד לאירועים קשים כאלה וכל פעם הם הולכים בשמחה לביתם כשכל ההתארגנות הזו לא נצרכת. השנה הבינו כולם כמה הם היו חיוניים. כמה חיים הם הצילו.
