forgetting festivals in Eicha
Question
Then in Lamentations 2:6 "The Lord made Zion forget her appointed festivals and Sabbaths."
Does that mean they literally forgot the dates?
Answer
No, simply that it means to say that our happiness left us. In addition, the Temple in Yrushalayim was particularly central to Shabbat and festival celebrations, so with its destruction, we lost much of our happiness.
