Question
I’m looking for clarity on the difference between Rambams negative theology view of G-d, Rav Kook’s view of G-d, and the way Hashem is described in the Torah. Are Rambam and Rav Kook talking about the ein sof and the Torah is describing the (I dont know how to put this into words.. not the ein sof?)
thank you
Answer
Rav Kook, as almost every latter-day Jewish theologian, bases himself heavily upon the Rambam and obviously upon the Torah, so they are referring to the same Ein Sof. Accordingly, there is no difference between them, but Rav Kook also (!) harmonizes this together with kabbala and the works of the other great Jewish thinkers. This is the Unity which is central to Rav Kook's thought.
