Left-Handed Cohen
Question
I was reading on your web-site which i subscribe to about being a left-handed Cohen. I then read a similar question about being first-born and lefty and a cohen. It was saying that most of the rabbis, like Rambam and Rashi do not believe a lefty should do avodah and such. I was wondering is there anything wrong with being a lefty or is it just in relation to the beit hamikdash? Also does that mean that a Lefty-Cohen is not a cohen or does not need to perform the priestly duties?
Answer
Although a left handed Cohen is disqualified from Temple service, he is a Cohen and may perform functions such as Bircat Cohanim.
