Mixture of Milk and Meat for Pet Food
Question
I saw a daily halacha question "Equal or Not?"
It was my understanding that it was not permissible to feed a pet a mixture of milk and meat. But if the milk and meat are certainly not kosher. Can you feed this mixture to a pet?
Answer
If the milk and/or meat is from a non kosher source (e.g. a pig) the mixture may be cooked and fed to animals. If there is a kosher source (e/g/ a cow) tne mixture may not be cooked or fed to animals. (Shulchan Aruch Yoreh Deah 97;3)
