Question
Why are there 24 books of the Tanakh/Bible and not 22 books? What is the original numbering of books of the Tanakh?
Answer
Traditional Judaism always referred to 24 books, which has never changed. There are some non-traditional sources who moved Ruth to the Book of Judges, and Eicha (Lamentations) to Jeremiah, but these are not original nor traditional Jewish sources.
