Question
What does it actually mean that Hashem loves me if He has no emotions?
Answer
Hashem is Perfect, and as such, not only has but typifies, all of the positive traits which He created. Your question is true regarding all of the Godly traits, that God is kind, merciful, alive etc. His kindness, love, liveliness is not like ours, but we apply these terms/concepts to Him, so that we can at least begin to try to understand Him, so that we can have a relationship with Him, and emulate these objectively good traits. There are those like R. Yehuda HaLevi and the Rambam who add that when we say that He is loving or living, it's more exact to understand from the negative: that He is not hating or dead. In short, of course He loves us and it is actually love, but it's not a love which stems from a need or lacking, as it is by most people. It's not exactly like our love.
