Question
In Melachim and Divrei HaYamim when discussing the Temple built by King Solomon it states that ten Menorahs were built. Rashi states these were in addition to the one specified to Moshe. Is there a specific meaning to these 10 or were they just decorative?
Answer
The Meshech Chochma explains that the Temple was much larger than the Mishkan (Tabernacle), so they needed much more light (more menorahs) and in general, more furniture (10 tables and 10 basins, as well) to serve a greater population and so it should not seem empty.
