Question
Is ice-skating permissible on shabbat? If not, can you explain to me what sources support the prohibition?
Answer
I know of no reason that it should be prohibited to ice skate on Shabbat, assuming that the entirety of the surface or rink is within t'chum Shabbat, (within the city limits). I would not recommend ice skating as an appropriate Shabbat activity.
