Question
My father, Baruch Hashem, turned 50 this year and I am having trouble finding Divrei Torah about turning 50 or something simliar to it. Do you have any Divrei Torah or suggestions of places to look?
Answer
Mazal Tov
You can note the fact the Levites were counted and served only till the age of fifty – you can try the different commentators and Midrashim on that issue. (Bamidbar 4)
The Mishnah Avot 5, 21 comments of the age of fifty and its qualities, see the commentators there too.
The sages (Smachot 3,1) notes that the Karet death penalty will be dying before the age of 50 and therefore some celebrate their 50th in that light.
