how do I kasher a water distiller?

ב"ה Shalom This question came to my desk only a short while ago, when we are a long way off from Pesach, nonetheless there is always what to be learned in regard to koshering utensils. To my understanding, a water distiller is an electrical appliance that purifies water by boiling it into steam and condensing it back into liquid. If this is the case, and no food made from Chametz is placed on the appliance, then no koshering is necessary since it is only in use for water. However, it should be cleaned from whatever particles may have settled on it being in the kitchen. Even an electric water kettle in principle does not need to be Kashered for Pesach since we're not really concerned that a crumb of bread may have fallen in, for even if had fallen it has long time been deteriorated and lost any flavor and it is only made kosher as an extra stringency.
