Question
Hello Rabbi/Rav, I have a few questions! I very much appreciate you answering! Is it okay to touch a mezuzah with unkosher residue after eating? Does saying "baruch shem kevod malchuto l’olam va’ed" cancel every time I said His name in vain even if I don’t think of every individual instance? Best
Answer
ב"ה Shalom I'll start with the second question. Saying "Baruch Shem" only refers to the individual instance said before, as it to rectify saying G-d's name in vain, after the fact, when it was immediately before. In regard to the Mezuza, I'm trying to understand why you ask many questions about non-kosher residue on one's hands, while today everybody has a tissue or a napkin handy, or a wipe or even a sink to wash one's hands, so the residue issue does not have to exist. So I am wondering, perhaps your question is, and please don't get offended if I'm misinterpreting ,is it proper to kiss the Mezuza on the one hand, while a person hasn't overcome yet their urge to eat non-Kosher. Meaning, the question is not a kosher issue. So, if I'm wrong in my understanding, I apologize and please correct me. However, if that is what you meant or somewhat close to it, then I would have to say, that if a person is trying to keep more of the Torah and become closer to G-d, then that the person has to pursue the positive and not let the things which have not yet been overcome be a hindrance. All the Best
