Whats the original of that? Are there difference in minhag?
Answer
ב"ה
Shalom
The source of all our Halachic knowledge is the Talmud. The Talmud gives general rules in regard to our clothing that they should be modest and respectable. The Talmud does not give details if a necktie should be worn or not. Therefore, one cannot say that according to Halacha, a person must not wear a necktie.
Over the generations in exile, the Jewish people had particular customs of retaining their Jewish identity by distinguishing themselves with clothing which separated them from their gentile environment. (See Talmud Shabbat 145b)
Therefore, we can see many Rabbis who wear a tie, because they want to look respectable. On the other hand, there are those among the Chassidim who feel that wearing a tie is clothing of the gentiles and therefore should not be worn.
