Marriage / Sterility
Question
Is it forbidden for either a man or a woman who is known to be sterile to marry? If not, is prior notification to the other party required? If so, would the prohibition apply after the child bearing years have passed?
Answer
Shalom U'verachah,
The question that need to be asked here is how do you define sterile and how is this known.
Generally today when many different types of fertility treatments are available it is very difficult to define someone simply as sterile or infertile. Therefore to answer all your questions it is essential to know the background.
