Question
I was told there are 10 important books that a jewish person should have, which are they?
Answer
I know of no "official list". Certainly one needs a siddur (prayer book) and Chumash (5 Books of Moses), to perform ordinary daily obligations, and a full Tanach (Bible) is basic. It would be important to start with basic halachic and philosophical texts, as well as biblical commentaries which can be found in many forms. Even a basic study library requires more than 10 books.. A personal Rabbi should be consulted for what is most appropriate for an individual.
