    Specific Species

At the beginning of parshas Noach, Rashi teaches us that, during the moral chaos that led to the Mabul, even members of the animal kingdom mated outside their species (min), something that no self-respecting and ethical animal would ever do.

The magnitude of the miracle of the establishment of the State of Israel

The new, recently published book shows the extent to which we are not aware of the miracles that God does for us. Now we can get to know them a little more.

    The Israeli State and Goverment

Can We Count on Israel? Partially.

Just like we don't rely totally upon the State to build Yeshivot, so too we cannot rely blindly upon it to actualize the values of Zionism.

Can I Refuse a Bad IDF Military Order?

Following the Expulsion from Gush Katif, there has been talk of late of a possible need to reconquer this area, from which terrorists continually fire rockets at Israel. Must I, as a soldier, agree to this?

Four Conditions for Appeasement With the Arabs

    Translated by Hillel Fendel

f we truly love life, then given all that's happened over the past few weeks, we simply cannot allow ourselves to come to any kind of superficial resolution with them. Nearly the entire Arab sector in the State of Israel took part in the anti-Jewish violence.

    The Value of Nationhood

    Translated by Hillel Fendel

In the Book of Shmot, we are no longer individuals, as in Breishit, but rather begin to appear in history as a Nation. Why is a national framework so critical?

A Little Order in the Turmoil

It is possible to see order even in the turmoil we are in. Order meaning control; control means that there is direction and there is a purpose; in other words, there is Gd!

    The Few and the Many

he Torah teaches us that our great teacher Moshe, even after writing the Torah, had ‘ink left in his quill.’ I do not, God forbid, pretend to resemble Moshe in any meaningful way, but I also have some stories left over that will not appear in the book.

The Son of a Convert Feeling Looked Down Upon

My father converted (his mother was not Jewish). I have struggled with my identity due to what I have read in the Kuzari, Maharal and Kabbalistic and Chassidic works, which seem to view gerim as lesser than born Jews. Does Judaism view someone like me as somewhat defective?

    Hebrew- Not Just Another Language

With the recent abundance of translations of Rabbinic literature into English, there is a clear decline in the study & knowledge of Hebrew in the Yeshiva and Jewish Day School systems in the last decade. The class deals with not only the problem of studying Torah from translations instead of the original, but in the ideal of learning and speaking Hebrew as an ideal in unto itself. It summarizes some of the central points in his sefer, "LeHarim et HaDegel" on the topic, including sources how the holiness of Lashon HaKodesh halachically elevates even secular topics (& kal vachomer Torah!) & instills Jewish Pride, Unity & Identity. This in addition to the mitzva involved, the kabbalistic, philosophic & scholarly ramifications (to be cont. in part 2)
