Question
Why did we move yom Haatzmaut a day early this year?
5 Iyyar was on Friday and in Israel most people don’t work anyway. There was no conflict with Shabbat.
So why not leave it on the 5 Iyyar?
Answer
Yom Ha'atzmaut celebrations don’t stop at sunset. If we celebrate Yom Ha'atzmaut on
Friday many of jews will desecrate Shabbat on Friday after sunset.
