Question
I feel that Dr. Eliyahu Rips has brought a new kind of prophecy known as bible code
I find it rather odd no one else has considered this fullfillment
Answer
Shalom, You have an interesting theory which is worth serious consideration, nevertheless, Maimonides (the Rambam, “The Eight Chapters”) explains that prophecy is achieved only by one who excels in Godly character traits and Torah knowledge and not through the simple use of a computer program which any intelligent person would be able to use. Additionally, see Samuel I, ch. 19 which describes prophecy as a supernatural experience and not simply intellectual. On the other hand, the Rambam (Guide for the Perplexed II, 45 based upon Judges 11, 29; 14, 19, et al) does list lower levels of prophecy, including special heroism in war which is not necessarily supernatural. Nevertheless, the Bible Codes may be a unique revelation but does not fit into any of those 11 categories of precedents in the aforementioned Rambam and classic sources upon which Judaism bases her decisions regarding new questions. Accordingly, it cannot be considered prophecy.
