Question
Hello Rabbi, I have a question, how can sources in Chazal say that angels carry our tefillos to HaShem? We don’t need an intermediary between HaShem, and one couldn’t even argue this only applies to goyim who have an angel, since doesn’t the pasuk say that since HaShem created the eyes, does he not see? And since he created the ears, does he not hear?
Answer
The Ramban at the end of last week's parsha Acharei Mot, explains that in Eretz Yisrael we all have a normal relationship with God, that is, we speak directly to Him. But outside of Eretz Yisrael, there is "an angel" in charge of every country, where as if it were, that angel brings the prayers to God. I'm not a kabbalist, so I don't totally understand this concept (for God obviously sees and hears everything) but the main point is clear, that God's Prescence is more apparent and direct in the Land of Israel, which is just one more reason to make Aliya and live in Israel!
