Ask the Rabbi
Question
I have rented a house in Israel for three nights for holiday and Mezuzah cases have no Mezuzahs in them what should I do?
Answer
One who rents a house abroad or one who lodges at an inn in the Land of Israel, is exempt from Mezuza for thirty days. “But one who rents a house in the Land of Israel requires Mezuza immediately”, due to the Mitzvah of Yishuv (dwelling in) Eretz Yisrael
You should ask the owner for a Kosher Mezuzah or borrow one from a local Gemach.
