Ask the Rabbi
Question
Hello. I'm not kosher, but I'm having a friend over next weekend who is kosher. All of the pots and utensils in my kitchen have been used to cook pork. Do you think it would not be a problem if I washed them in hot water with a new sponge? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Answer
Preparing your kitchen and cooking kosher entails many details. You can invite a local Rabbi or Kashrut professional to guide you through the process. This is highly recommended if you are Jewish.
If you are not Jewish, the easy and more practical way to host your friend is by ordering Kosher food and serving it on disposable dishes.
