Eyov
Question
Can you tell me if eyov was a jew? Eyov is the bechor of Nahor?
Answer
Purim Katan 5771
In the sources of Chazal the answer is quite inconclusive. According to most of the Tannaim and Amoraim he was a Jew. However, there are some who say that he was not Jewish. The difference of opinion stems from variant interpretations of verses mentioning his name. None the less, almost all sources agree that he was a righteous person. According to the Even Ezra at the very beinning of Iyov, he was the first born of Nachor but he also has another opinion.
