The High Holidays Holiday Memories
I am taking the liberty of sharing some of my holiday memories with you. Nostalgia can be very alluring, but there is also always a modicum of hard-headed realism that memories of the past always evoke.

The Month of Elul Elul
There was a time, not so far distant in the past, that it was said in Eastern Europe, that even the fish in the rivers trembled when they heard the announcement that the month of Elul had arrived. That certainly is not the case today.

Repentance Undoing The Past
The past is always prejudicially judged by the current standards of behavior and probity. Thus it is not only the future that is inscrutable; it is the past as well. We should therefore always be wary of our past. It will not go away.

Ki Tetze Our Internal Enemy
In our busy and crowded world, our schedules allow precious little time to think about our true selves - our goals and the purpose of our existence. Ignoring the enemy is the surest way of being defeated by it.
