Question
Can you say the Amidah while the Sefer Torah is being read?
Answer
ב"ה
Shalom,
This is question can come about only if a person has come late to Tefilla for some reason. Unlike hearing Kedusha or Kaddish while in the middle of Shmoneh Esreh, According to the Shulchan Aruch 104: 7 ,one may pause from his Tefilla and listen and have intention to be "yotzei" with the Tzibbur because שומע כעונה, meaning that listening is considered as if he had said those Tefillot. However, if doing Amidah the torah is being, one should not stop his tefilla to listen to the Torah reading even if he will not have a minyan later to hear the Torah reading. (see פסקי תשובות קד :טו)
