Question
We live in Afula & on our side of the building we are the only Jews & the other owners are Russian Goyim so why should our entrance require a mezuzah &why should I foot the bill for Goyim who are not required to do the mitzvah of mezuzah? Yes I am 100% sure that they are not Jews& all my doorposts in my apartment have mezuzot so why does our entrance need it when they are Goyim?
Answer
Shalom Uvracha,
If you are askenazim you don't have to put a mezuza. If you are sefardim you have to put a mezuza (see Shulchan aruch and Rema Yoreh deah (286;1).
Comment: Some of the Ashkenazi Poskim hold that one should put a mezuza in this situation.
All the best!
