Ask the Rabbi
Question
I know that Rav Ovadia Yosef and others write that it's disrespectful to sit with one's legs crossed in synagogue, for one wouldn't sit that way when meeting with dignitaries. Does this apply to women as well, where it's totally accepted, and even modest for them sit this way?
Answer
I asked Rav Shlomo Aviner, and he answered that women in shul are allowed to cross their legs under their skirt.
