Question
Shalom Rav! Which direction did Bnei Israel circle Jericho, clockwise or counterclockwise?
Answer
ב"ה
Shalom
For a change, I would be interested to know, if you don't mind why you find this important.
In any case, in the classic commentators on the book of Yehoshua, I found no commentator who related to your question.
However, I found in the Rokach, who was one of the Rishonim, (Rav Elazar of worms, Germany (approx.. 1160-1230) , who wrote that we go around the Bimah with the Lulav on Sukkot, just as Yehoshua went around Jericho, from the right, counterclockwise, so do we go around the Bimah from the right.
