im a jew from south africa who bought a ipad from marketplace and only when i recieved it i found out it was stoten. The guy who sold it to me is a goy. Do I have to return the item to the original orner halachikally

I conferred with a Dayan, a Rabbinical judge in regard to your question. He expressed the view that due to the circumstances described, you are under no obligation to return the stolen ipad to the owner.
