Ask the Rabbi
Question
Dear Rabbi,
I am Sephardic. Should:
1) I start[before H sefatai tiftah ofi yagid tehilatecha] Shemoneh Esrei by taking 3 steps back then 3 steps forward? and
2) End[before yihyo leratson imrei fi...] the prayer by taking 3 steps back?
I have heard that there are different practices between Ashkenazi and Sephardic when it comes to taking steps in prayer. I just wanted to make sure that I am following this based on halacha. Thank you for your time.
