אתר ישיבה / yeshiva.coWhy does G-d test us with such difficult challenges?
During the course of our lives, we all encounter many different situations, some of which are very difficult and create great hardships. We strive to understand what could be their reasons, but generally without success.
  • Just not Heartache
When something is damaged or works poorly, if its heart or base is healthy and functions well, the heart will make the rest of the body recover. But when the heart is sick, this restoration is not possible.
  • Not under Depression!
It’s hard to work with people who are depressed.
  • Muslims, Christians and Other Rules
When in exile, it is better to be ruled by people with passion and personal interests than under the rule of people who enjoy murder. However, even such a rule, if it has order and laws, is better than a rule of wild people who destroys without reason. Even this rule is better than something completely not normal.
  • Holy Ideals Remain After Destruction
If a city raises ideals of Holiness, they will remain even if the city will be destroyed and will help building the new society.
  • Why Must Synagogues Be Tall?
The Halacha that synagogues should be higher than all houses in town, but not from buildings built just for decoration expresses the idea of the central place of holiness in Judaism. This value is not only decorative but applies to real life.
  • When and How to Punish?
Before the city of Sdom was destroyed, G-d gave them 26 years of peace and 26 years of war, maybe it will cause them to do Tshuva.
  • Small Differences Make Big Differences
The story of Lot and Sodom helps us understand the role of evil in the world.
  • The role of stringencies in the nation's existence
Stringencies came because of doubts we have while in exile. However, we must keep them and they have an important role in maintaining the inner sanctity of Israel.
  • Natural Results Are the Punishment Itself
God created the world in a way that the natural result of bad deeds are actually the punishment.
