During the course of our lives, we all encounter many different situations, some of which are very difficult and create great hardships. We strive to understand what could be their reasons, but generally without success.

Do not the many discrepancies in Jewish law and the different schools of thought within Judaism weaken our sense of security in Torah scholars? How is it possible to rely on such an aged tradition when we find so many disagreements within the tradition itself? -
The Flight from Transgression
The Sages are well aware that a mere gaze can eventually lead to promiscuity. A wise person keeps his eyes to himself and knows better than to put himself into a situation which will demand overcoming his baser drives. -
7. The Reliability of Tradition
How can we be certain that the traditions which have been handed down generation after generation, for so many hundreds of years, are reliable? How can we be certain that they are in fact founded, and not just the fruit of imagination? -

God Himself initiated our faith. It was not intellectual investigation that brought us face to face with the Creator; rather, it was the Almighty who brought us close to Him. -

The Khazar king was puzzled. In what sense could the story of the Exodus, the Revelation at Sinai, or the account of the forefathers serve as a solid foundation for faith? -
4. Faith and Reason
The advantage of human intellect is that it discards the possibility of ascribing any notion of corporeality to God; its disadvantage is that it cannot comprehend the connection between God and the world, between the Creator and His creation.
