What Do We Sacrifice? We would expect to read “when one of you offers a sacrifice.” Instead, it says “when one offers a sacrifice of you.” The essence of sacrifice is that we offer ourselves.

It’s sow easy to change
The rationale behind Shmita, is to create for us a “Shabbat Shabbaton” every 7 years. Like the contemporary Sabbatical, this results in a complete change in our routine, a break from the norm, a chance to recharge the batteries & then make a new start, refreshed & reinvigorated. -

Nadav & Avihu's death arises a hard question: why do bad things seemingly happen to good people? And there is a corollary question involved here as well – why did tragedy strike then and there?
