text-decoration: none;">מי ימלל גבורות </ins>ה<ins style="font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none;">', ישמיע כל תהילתו" {{מקור|תהילים קו ב|כן}}- כלומר, צריך לדעת את כל התורה. אולם, רבי יעקב בן קרשי שמע את תכנונם, וכדי למנוע בושה מרשב"ג הלך מאחורי ביתו של רשב"ג וגרס את הלכות עוקצים. רשב"ג שמע את הדינים שנאצרו מפי רבי יעקב, וחשד שמישהו מנסה להדיחו, ולכן חזר על הלכות אלו. למחרת באו רבי מאיר ורבי נתן לרשב"ג על מנת לשאול אותו בהלכות עוקצים כפי שתכננו, והוא השיב להם כי אם לא היה גורס היה נכלם, ולכן הוציאם מבית המדרש. ר"מ ורבי נתן היו משליכים לבית המדרש פתקים עם קושיות, ואף תירוצים לקושיות שרשב"ג לא הצליח לתרץ. משראה זאת [[רבי יוסי]] אמר</ins>: <ins style="font-weight: bold;
