Question
1. What are the qualifications to recieve a birthright of the first born? 2. If there are no male inheritors, does the first born daughter receive a double portion of the inheritance of the siblings, like a male first born? Thank you for your time and cooperation. Regards
Answer
The firstborn son of his father (even if the mother had children previously from someone else) receives a double portion of his father's inheritance. A first-born daughter- even if there are no sons- does not inherit a double portion (Sifri).
