Ask the Rabbi
- Halacha
- Netilat Yadayim - Hand Washing
- When Awakening
Question
Dear Rabbi,
I was wondering what the correct procedure would be if one wakes up and needs to go to the bathroom straightway?
Should one wash negal vasser, use the bathroom,. get dressed, wash again and then make brachos, netilyat yadayim, asher yatzar etc?
Answer
ב"ה
Shalom
Since it is improper to make the beracha for netilat yadayim when one needs the bathroom, according to the Chayye Adam (7:6), the best way to do things would be to wait after one has used the bathroom and then to say the brachot when one is ready for Tefilla.
All the best
