Question
Rabbi, could you tell us what and if there are prohibitions against genetically enginered foods? I heard someone on a program saying scientists combine the DNA of a vegetable seed with fish DNA .Torah speaks of not mixing kinds, that by doing so it violated its integrity!?
Thank you kindly,
Answer
The Torah forbids various forms of grafting trees and sowing mixed seeds. Combining genetic material in a lab would not be included in the prohibition.
