Gir stones in Yeshaya 27:9
Question
What are Gir stones in Yeshaya 27:9 (see Targum too) and what is their significance?
Answer
ב"ה
Shalom,
"Gir" stones refers to limestone. The Navi uses limestone as an analogy to something which shatters into small bits. When they shatter their idolatrous altars as limestone shatters into small bits, they shall be forgiven.
