Conservative shul davening
Question
2 questions about this
1. If you are at a conservative shul for a chuppah and all the men davening are frum, can you use the sanctuary to daven?
2. When the answer stated that conservative rabbis accept those that drive to shul as legitimate colleagues, the chabad accept those that drive to shul and even give them Aliyah’s. why is that accepted when it is no good when done by a conservative rabbi?
Answer
Shalom
1. One is not allowed to attend a chuppah, or even hear a shofar, in a conservative temple or sanctuary, so the rest of the question is also clearly prohibited.
2. The Conservative “rabbi”, even if he personally may observe Shabbat, sees his fellow Conservative “rabbis” (!) who drive to temple as colleagues and legitimate peers with legitimate opinions, and not as far-removed Jews who need to be brought closer, as Chabad sees those Jews who unfortunately drive on Shabbat. The Conservative rabbinate unfortunately officially declares allowance for halachic desecration of Shabbat in the name of Judaism, which is significantly more halachically and historically severe and different from individuals who allow themselves, as individuals, to do so.
