Question
Good morning,
Many years ago, I was at Shul and the Rabbi quoted a Rabbi from the past who said, “If we could observe only two Mitzvot, we should observe Brit Milah and the telling of the Pesach journey from Egypt.” Brit Milah because it continues our lineage and telling the Pesach story because it reminds us that Hashem took us out of the land of the Pharoh. Are you familiar with these comments? Thank you.
Answer
Perhaps he was referring to the Yalkut Shimoni, Yechezkel ch. 354 and Pirkei dR. Eliezer 29, on the verse "with your bloods you will live", it's written that we will be redeemed because of the blood of mila (circumcision) and the blood of the Korban Pesach (Pesach sacrifice).
