Question
Hello Rabbi,
When eating kosher food with a ceramic bowl and metal spoon that have been used for hot unkosher food within 6 hours as well as being in the unkosher dishwasher, do I still say a bracha and grace after meals on the kosher food?
Answer
Shalom,
Thank you for your question. It is not so clear to me why a non kosher bowl and spoon are being used to eat with. It is forbidden to use non kosher utensils to eat with. So such a question should never arise.
To answer your question – if the food being eaten now is cold, and the bowl and spoon were cleaned after being used for non kosher food, then one certainly says a blessing. (This is because in such a case the food is still technically kosher).
If the food is hot, or the utensils were still dirty from the non kosher food, then one should not make a blessing over the food, as it is a mockery to G-d to Bless Him for food that He forbids one to eat.
As to an after blessing – id one only realized after the fact that the food was not kosher, there are opinions that one should say an after blessing, But, if one knew when they were eating the food that it was the wrong thing to do, no after blessing should be recited.
If the food was eaten in a time of danger etc, then because it was permitted to eat the food to save oneself from danger, the blessings should be recited.

Blessings.
