Question
I have a yahrzeit for my brother. What should I do?
Answer
Shalom,
Thank you for your question. The marking of the day of a close relative’s passing is an important event. Every year, on the day of the passing, the close relatives get a chance to reconnect to the memories and life of the deceased. According to our tradition, the soul of the relative also finds importance in that day. It is a day when the soul rises from level to level in the world to come.
With all that in mind, it is especially meaningful for you to mark the day of your brother’s passing. Here is a link to a very good article that outlines what you will want to do on that day.

May you have a long life, and may the memory of your brother be for a blessing.
