Question
Why do the havdala candles have two wicks?
Answer
The Talmud (Pesachim 103b) teaches that it's especially good to use a "torch" = 2 wicks, and not just 1 candle wick. The commentaries explain that the blessing is in the plural, Borei Me'orei HaEsh, inferring that it's proper to make the blessing on several flames together.
